I Miss You in My Life

I was a baby and to me you
were larger than life.
Stronger than all of mankind.
Taller than the few people I knew
in my small world.
Fierce with love.
Smiling like God.

I live elsewhere, now.
Life has taken me far.
All ties have been severed
except those of the heart, that
are too strong to ever wither.
You do not have time to hear my voice but
in every moment,
I am missed
just as you are.

I imagine you,
moving around on your Earth.
Proud as a bull.
Shoulders square.
Chin high.
I close my eyes and I can
hear your voice,
so clear and true.
I can see you do all your favorite things
and smell your odour after a day’s work,
all the while
smiling like God.
